Big Texan - Amarillo, Texas
Date: Jul 15, 2004 - 07:30 AM

Apparently, if you're driving down Route 66 into Amarillo, a visit to the Big Texan is a must. So we did!

The 'Big Texan' is home to world famous 'free' 72oz steak. It's free, so long as you can it, as well as a baked potato, salad and shrimp cocktail within an hour. Oh, and everyone in the restaurant watches while you eat.
30,000 people have tried to eat it and only 4,800 have eaten it since 1960! I wimped out and had the girly 16oz steak. Definately, the best steak I have ever had.

We stayed in the motel, which is designed as a Wild West main street. It also has a Texas state shaped pool, which was very wet!

During the evening and all through the night was a fierce thunderstorm, which we sat out and watched for a while. Fork lightning, like you've never seen before!

Take a look at steak!!!
