Las Vegas - Part 1
Date: Jul 25, 2004 - 07:40 AM
Monday 5th July - Friday 9th July
Today should've been spent in bed. Instead, a 3 hour drive to Las Vegas in 110 degree heat!
Finally made it Las Vegas and found our hotel - New York, New York - across from MGM Grand on the Strip.
Fantastic hotel, with gorgeous rooms and great facilities.
Forget the hotel!!! Where's the casino? After freshening up, we headed down to the casino. After about 10 minutes on a slot, I'd won $80 (£35)! Winner! This is gonna be a good week in Vegas, me thinks.
Needless to say, the whole lot and probably more went back into the bloody things.
We decided to head out onto the Strip and see if my luck would work in other casinos. Nope, it didn't.
Las Vegas is a weird place. Everything is seriously bigger than it needs to be. They've got volcanoes, Eiffel Towers, a Sphinx and Pyramid, warring battleships, 50 foot Coke bottles, Statue of Liberty.........
It was really hot when we were there, and we were finding it pretty unbearable at times. There's just no breeze at all. It's like being in a oven. We both like a bit of sun, but this was just frazzelling us as we walked down the street.
We both had a great time in Las Vegas and would say that everyone should visit the place at least once in their life.
We did have a few more wins on the slots, but there were more losses. We did get free beer all night off the hostesses though, which sort of compensates for our losses.
The fountains at the Bellagio were stunning and the canals in the Venetian Hotel were so real. The volcano at the Mirago was excellent. We didn't manage to see the show at Treasure Island, as it was just too busy and you couldn't get anywhere near.
Anyway, I've put the pictures onto 2 pages as there's a few of them. Here's the first lot and the second lot are here.

Woohoo! I've won again!!!
