San Francisco - Part 1
Date: Jul 26, 2004 - 12:25 AM

Sunday 11th July

We'd booked the HI Fishermans Wharf to stay at, whilst we were in San Francisco. Great hostel!
Ideally located for Fishermans Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge and in a very safe residential area.
They also have free WiFi internet, which made me go out and buy a laptop!

San Francisco is a really nice place, although the weather can be a bit odd at times. There's always low cloud in some part of the city, it's quite chilly at night and can get quite windy at times. It was always dry and sunny whilst we there, which was nice.
I caught a cold, because of the change in the temperature while we were there and have only just got rid of it!

We did all the usual touristy things while we there - Alcatraz, Fishermans Wharf, Haight-Ashbury, Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown etc etc.

We also had a drive down to Mountain View, just past Palo Alto, to see the Google offices. Quite sad of me, but I just wanted to see where they worked. They wouldn't show us around though, without an appointment.

Alcatraz was great. There's a MP3 audio tour, that you get to walk around with, which tells the story of the island.

We also had a ride on a cable car. That was a bit hairy at times! The streets in SF are like dips on a rollercoaster!

We met some really nice people at the hostel, some of which we've seen again while in LA and I'm sure our paths will cross somewhere else.

Enjoy the piccies...
