After spending the night at Hervey Bay, we were up early for our 2 day trip over to Fraser Island.
Fraser Island is world heritage listed and is the world's largest sand island.
Our first stop was Lake Wabby, where turtles can usually be seen in the water. None to be seen today :( After that we headed to Lake McKenzie, which is usually a clear blue colour. As it was cloudy, it wasn't as spectacular as we'd seen in the pictures. The weather was a real let down for us.
After that, we all went back to our rooms at the Kingfisher Bay Resort and got ready for tea. As it was Halloween that weekend, the staff at the bar had dressed up and there was a host of drinking games on throughout the night.
Our group won the fastest drinking competition and I can safely say that I felt it the next day.

Feeling a little bit worse for wear, we were up at 07:00 and back out for a full day trip. Today we were heading up Seventy Five Mile Beach, which is also the island's main 'highway' and 'runway'.
After stopping at Eli Creek, the wreck of the Maheno and the Pinnacles, we stopped for lunch at Indian Head. Sharks, manta rays, dolphins and whales can often be seen from here - they must've all been asleep when we were there.
After a full day on the island, we headed back to the resort to catch the sunset by the pier, before catching the ferry back to the mainland.
We had a great time on Fraser but it was such a shame about the weather on the first day.
Hope you like the piccies....
